ABIGAIL OPIAH is an entrepreneur and co-founder of UNRULY—an award-winning beauty platform that simplifies the care of Black hair.
After earning a degree in Marketing, Abigail enjoyed a career as a PR professional for globally recognized consumer brands. It was here she honed her skill for turning anything into a story, and deepened her love of the art and power of persuasion.
As a high-level thinker with a natural talent for coming up with new ways of looking at old problems, Abigail eventually gravitated towards entrepreneurship, joining her sister, Antonia Opiah in 2013 to launch UNRULY. That year, the sisters made a splash with their widely buzzed-about public art exhibit, You Can Touch My Hair and its accompanying documentary film which raised a lot of eyebrows while igniting a national conversation.
By 2016 Unruly had evolved from a blog about hair, to a 7-figure, vertically integrated business that included on-demand hairstyling services in New York, Los Angeles and the greater D.C. area.
Abigail has been featured in national media outlets such as Forbes, ESSENCE, Allure, NPR among others. Some of her awards and honors include being recognized as a 2022 Webby Honoree, a ‘22 Gold and ‘23 Bronze Anthem Award, a Silver Davey Award ‘23, an Excellence Communicator Award ‘23, and a Silver Telly Award ‘23.
Abigail currently divides her time between New York City and Florida.
